An update from lockdown…

First of all, we hope you are all holding up ok. Our artists and makers have been a source of great community to each other, and we are reminded daily why we love them and what we do.

As of today, we have not been given any guidance from the city or state other than what we all already know, no large gatherings are currently allowed. We are cautiously waiting to see what happens in May. Our first scheduled show date is May 23rd in Market Square Park, across from the West Side Market. We already have our city permits in place but obviously things have changed since we received them. Keep an eye on our Facebook events page. We will keep you updated but we’re very hopeful we may still be permitted to have at least some summer events.

Meanwhile, many other local and regional event organizers have gotten together to form the Rust Belt Creative Coalition as a way to help our artist community and each other respond to these changing circumstances. Check out the RBCC Facebook page as we develop new ways to put you in touch with the talented artists we all have featured in our events.

Secondly, we are in the process of reworking this website to provide you with easier access to our artists’ online presences so you can shop local now and in the future. It’s slow going but we hope to be able to relaunch with new features soon. In the meantime one good way to find artists is to look at older posts featuring our holiday artists each year, they are filled with links wherever possible.

Cleveland is our home. We care about it, you, and our artists very deeply. No matter what happens in the next few months we will strive to do the very best for everyone, balancing safety against all other factors. If we’re allowed to hold events, we will make sure that we have done everything in our power to minimize risk. We joked about having Cleveland Bazaar branded hand sanitizer dispensers… but then realized that yes, that’s actually not a bad idea. And our founder Shannon couldn’t resist making herself a mask with the Bazaar logo on it! So know that we are also working on all of that behind the scenes as well.

Stay safe and healthy and we hope we can be together and see all of you soon.
