hfb ceramics is a small-batch pottery studio based in Cleveland, Ohio. All pieces are handmade by me, Holly Buchbinder, using a combination of wheel throwing and hand-building techniques. My work focuses on functional ceramics such as mugs, vessels, and small objects for the home. Surfaces often feature hand-drawn and hand-painted designs created with underglaze, drawing visual inspiration from traditional American and Japanese tattoo imagery. I frequently leave portions of the clay body exposed, creating contrast between raw clay and glazed surfaces. Pieces are made in small batches from start to finish in my studio. Each object is individually formed, trimmed, decorated, glazed, and fired. Because of the handmade process, no two pieces are exactly alike!
